Tokyo is a huge city (and a notorious traffic system) – with so many great historical sights to see that it’s impossible to see all in a short space. However our 4 hour guided tour will take you to the beautiful Imperial Palace gardens, visit the Meiji Shrine, the Senso-ji Temple plus the National Diet Building. This will give a good introduction. Afternoon at leisure.
(NOTE: see comments at end re sightseeing)

Monday 30 September
The cultural centre of Japan, and the ancient past capital – Kyoto. Perhaps take an orientation of the city before heading to the ancient Shinto shrine of Fushimi Inari Taisha. This stunning complex of timber buildings set in beautiful parks will just bowl you over. The complex has recently been restored with the approaching streets lovingly return to their former glory, with timber shops and cafes lining the way. It’s like the clock of time has been rolled back.
Tuesday 1 October
Depart Kyoto at 0946hrs arriving Hiroshima 1134hrs. Check in to hotel. On arrival why not go to the World Heritage listed Peace Park, the epi-centre of where the atomic bomb was dropped at 0815hrs on 6th August 1945. The dome still stands as a fitting memorial to this event. Enjoy a visit to the Memorial Museum and then a stroll past the Flame of Peace, the Peace Bell and Cenotaph for Atomic Bomb victims, down to the river. Remainder of the day is free.
Wednesday 2 October
Our trip today takes us just 40 minutes south of the city, to the town of Miyajimaguchi. Here we board the ferry for the 10 minute crossing to Miyajima Island. What awaits you is stunning. World Heritage listed, this temple and pagoda date back over 1400 years. The Itsukushima Shrine floats over the surrounding sea, highlighted by the 0-Torii gate. Relax, enjoy a meal, go for a walk through the cute village with its abundance of shops and cafes, or perhaps take a walk up Mt Misen for breath-taking views across the Seto Sea. Return to Hiroshima at your leisure. Depart on the train at 1434hrs arriving Fukuoka 1537hrs.
Known as one of the great culinary centres of Japan, Fukuoka boast over 11,000 restaurants – so that’s dinner sorted! Fukuoka is also the ‘start-up’ centre of Japan, so the streets are full of young people going about their work, adding a great buzz to the city.
Thursday 3 October
Full day free – why not take a tour of the famous Asahi brewery today leaving the remainder of the day free to tour the many historic sites such as the 9th century Tochiji Temple and the reclining Buddha at Nanzoin Temple – a mere 41 m long!. All is possible in this very exciting city.

- i)Both in Tokyo and Kyoto I have added a private guided walking tour of the city. Its pretty impossible to understand the history and beauty of these cities any other way. If you wished to preclude these, deduct £60 a head per tour.
- ii)I have also included a 90 minute traditional tea ceremony in Kyoto with kimono hire. This is terribly popular. Again, to preclude deduct £40 a head
iii) In many cities its as cheap to book 2 single rooms as it is to book a twin. Japanese hotels cater for the business market—i.e.: single travellers. Above you will note which hotels offer which style or room. To change to a twin in these cities would add +/- £65 a head/night. Twins are not common.
- iv)At Fukuoka you could upgrade to (say) the Nishitetsu Grand Hotel That would add, in total per person, £30. The room would change to a twin.
HOW TO BOOK
Its simple. All our prices are per person in the room type, hotel etc, of your choice from the drop down menus.
Select the hotel/room type/ticket category and ADD TO CART
Now you increase the number of guests per room (so if booking a double you need to increase the QUANTITY to 2, a twin the same, but a single is just 1 person). Automatically the value of the cart increases.
If booking more than one room, simply click CONTINUE SHOPPING in the CART, return to your chosen trip and repeat the process. Do this for each room type. This also allows you to buy different styles of room depending on your needs.
Time to pay. You can choose 2 schemes. If buying outside the 12 weeks cut off you click the INSTALLMENTS button in the middle. This takes you to the secure payment pages of Partial.ly.
