Arrive Tokyo. Take the train to city centre. Remainder of the day free.
Saturday 12 October
This morning we have included a private walking tour to a sumo stable – a residential training ground where wrestlers train prior to tournaments. Our guide will explain the history and workings behind this ancient game. Following our visit we will tour local sights of interest.
Afternoon train to Yokohama for England vs France game.
Sunday 13 October
Full day free.
Possibly go to Japan vs Scotland at Yokohama. Tickets to game not included. However the train fare is included.
Monday 14 October
Full day free in Tokyo.
If interested, you could travel to the World Heritage listed temples at Nikko- a pleasant day trip. Train included. Or to Mount Fuji Park - again train fare is covered.
Tuesday 15 October
Depart on shinkansen (bullet) train to Kyoto. Train leaves at 0933hrs, arriving Kyoto 1211hrs.
Afternoon free in Kyoto.
Wednesday 16 October
Full day sightseeing in Kyoto, the cultural capital of Japan. You may also wish to visit the ancient capital of Nara, just a 20 minute train ride away. Train fare included.
Thursday 17 October
Depart Kyoto this morning at 0946hrs arriving Hiroshima 1134hrs.
Afternoon visit to the Peace Park.
Friday 18 October
This morning take the train (30 mins) and ferry (10 mins) to Miyajima Island. Visit the spectacular Itsukushima Torri Gate, over water monastery and perhaps take a stroll into the Miyama Primeval Forest. Return to Hiroshima after lunch.
Saturday 19 October
Depart Hiroshima on train at 0822hrs, arriving Yufuin 1136hrs. Minibus transfer to our hotel for the next 2 nights. Yufuin is a lovely onsen (spa) town set in the hills just 40 minutes from Oita. Our ryokan (typical Japanese Inn) offers ensuite accommodation in typical tatami rooms. See photo.

Monday 21 October
Depart Yufuin this morning. Included in your rail pass is travel by train direct to one of 4 destinations. These are: Oita Airport (0840/1045 ), Fukuoka Airport (0907/1133), Osaka Kansai Airport (0907/1450), or Tokyo Narita or Haneda Airports (0757/1757). 1st train out timings.

FULL PAYMENT – choose this if you wish to immediately pay for your purchases in full OR if you are purchasing your items 12 weeks, or less, prior to departure. (Also, rarely, some events require full prepayment at time of booking. This will, in that case, be clearly noted on the Product page.)
INSTALLMENTS – this is the ‘normal’ payment system. Choose this if you wish to pay a 20% deposit on booking, 25% on 1 November 2018, 25% on 15 February 2019 and the balance by 15 June 2019.
